QR code key part of new signage
app for that . . . well, sort of. As part of a pilot project, the city is using QR codes to communicate with Londoners about sidewalk maintenance. Each summer, city crews inspect about 1,400 kilometres of sidewalk, meaning hundreds of sidewalks are out of commission while they undergo repairs. In order to make it easier for people to find out about repairs, the city has put up lawn signs with a phone number, e-mail address and a QR code directing people to the city's website, where they can learn more about the construction and how to get in touch with someone if they have any complaints or concerns.
