Using RFID to Help Track Guns

American Tactical Imports (ATI) and AmChar Wholesale are using RFID technology to track firearms as they are entered in their facilities, placed in locked storage, and sold to retailers. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), wholesalers and distributers of firearms are supposed to have and carry impeccable records of all weapons entering and exiting their facilities. Sales and other record keeping have traditionally been done manually via spreadsheets or notebooks, but due to the increase of inspections minor recording errors can lead to hefty fines and other disruptive penalties.
