Topeka library talks RFID update

The Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library could close for multiple days next year while staff implements the pending radio frequency identification system. The board considered four scenarios for implementation of the new system, which is expected to streamline both checkout and inventory procedures as well as free up staff for more in-depth customer service.“It’s probably one of the biggest projects we’ve done since we opened the building,” said collections director Paul Brennan. “We see this project as fundamental to getting us where we need to be in the next five to 10 years.”
