Apple Receives NFC-like Patent for iOS 6 Passbook App

Almost a year in the works after filing, the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) finally published Apple’s patent to disclose that the Cupertino-based tech giant will use it for an “on-the-go shopping list” feature in the final version of its upcoming mobile operating system, iOS 6. The app, as mentioned in the patent filing, will not harness the power of NFC technology to finish a transaction as NFC-enabled Android devices do.
