MHA plans to profile, track all vessels using RFID tags

As part of the efforts to further beef up the country’s coastal security, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is working on a plan to carry out a 360 degree profiling of the vessels plying the Indian waters. It envisages a process wherein the data regarding the identification and background info on the owners and the workers are stored in a smart chip fitted on the boats, which the MHA officials believe can successfully plug a security breach.
