Transit's smart card payment system to be completed next month

Winnipeg Transit expects to finally complete its smart card payment system next month. The project has been underway for several years, beginning in 2013, the year it was originally expected to be completed. Now officials say the automated fare collection system should be finished in February 2020. Kirk Cumming, Winnipeg Transit’s manager of information systems, said the challenges that slowed down the project over the years aren’t unique to Winnipeg.
