Tamper-proof QR Code to be made mandatory for oxygen containers in India

Tamper-proof QR codes will soon be made mandatory in India for all high pressure cylinders and cryogenic containers used for storing and transport of medical oxygen for their quick identification and mobilisation.

The industries department (DPIIT) has proposed to amend the Gas Cylinder Rules by including the provision, which says, 'All the high pressure cylinders and cryogenic containers used for filling non-toxic, non-flammable gases and liquids shall have permanent and tamper proof marking in form of QR code at conspicuous place on cylinders.'
