Small RAIN RFID Tag and HIGH-DRAIN Silver-Oxide and Mini Alkaline batteries for smart healthcare applications
The tag enables RFID readers to determine the item’s identity and authenticity in smart healthcare applications. The small yet robust RFID Tags can be fitted to metallic and non-metallic surfaces, perfect for use on small items. To avoid any risk of contamination during the drug-filling operations, they can also be embedded into the product, such as pre-filled syringes, vials, and cartridges.
Murata incorporated an antenna in multilayer ceramic substrates to produce a small and robust RFID tag capable of automatic identification and bulk reading of over 400 units/min for high throughput efficiency. This capability allows real-time identification at full production speeds, preventing any mix-up during drug-filling operations. The RFID tags also provide item-level serialization, thus limiting batch segregation should a defect be found in the aftermarket.
Murata, the inventor of the world’s first mercury-free silver oxide button cell batteries with over 40 years of engineering and manufacturing experience, has developed HIGH-Drain Mini Alkaline (LR) and Silver oxide (SR) batteries. The button cells deliver large current and high pulse discharge current (up to 3 times higher than conventional SR/LR) for smart medical devices that require large current loads for communication, lighting, camera, small motor, and other use cases. Typical applications include dosing devices, insulin pumps/pens, and capsule endoscopes. The batteries offer a maximum pulse discharge current of 120mA to maintain a minimum of 1.2V at 100ms upon 0% Depth of Discharge (DOD) at 23°C.
