Azenta Life Sciences introduces the Ziath Handheld 2, a portable and compact 2D barcode tube reader designed to deliver rapid and accurate readings of individual 2D barcoded sample tubes. Offering unparalleled convenience, the Handheld 2 is ergonomically designed for one-handed operation, allowing users to handle tubes effortlessly with the other hand.

The device features intuitive pre-loaded software that boots up instantly, enabling users to read tube codes, review or edit tube contents, and utilise preloaded ‘pick lists’ for efficient checking of individual tubes during retrieval from the freezer. The large icons displayed on the Handheld 2 screen facilitate easy method selection, even when wearing protective gloves.

Compatible with all 2D Datamatrix coded tubes, the Handheld 2 connects seamlessly via Wi-Fi to desktop PCs, facilitating remote uploading and downloading of files. This remote functionality allows users to upload a list of required tubes, take the Handheld 2 reader to the freezer, and use the Pick List function to systematically check off each tube after storage retrieval.
