Kwikset introduces a Matter-enabled smart door lock

Kwikset has announced the upcoming launch of Halo Select, a new smart door lock featuring built-in Wi-Fi and Matter support.

This lock offers seamless smart home integration without the need for a hub. You can control it via the Kwikset app, allowing for remote access, locking/unlocking, and granting entry to guests through unique codes or in-app, with real-time notifications to track activity. Once integrated with your smart home platform, you can also control it from there.

The lock’s Matter over Thread support ensures compatibility with HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and more. Additionally, geofence technology allows the lock to automatically unlock when a user approaches the home1.

Designed for do-it-yourself installation, the lock requires only a screwdriver and is powered by AA batteries or a rechargeable lithium-ion pack. An upgraded model, Halo Select+, featuring NFC tap-to-unlock functionality, is set to launch in early 2025.
