Estonia's EMT pilots NFC tags

EMT is launching NFC (Near Field Communication) service, which enables NFC tags to perform various contact-free functions. NFC tags can really simplify your daily life by automating routine tasks. Once the tag is programmed to perform a certain task, all you have to do is wave the phone near the NFC tag area to get the task done. „For example, you can encode a tag to activate GPS," says Tiit Tammiste, CTO at EMT. „If you put this tag in the cell phone holder in the car, you no longer have to activate the navigation app every time you are driving. Or, you can activate Bluetooth to pair your headset with your cell phone."
