Toyota Is Getting Support for Apple’s Car Key Feature Soon

Toyota, one of the world’s biggest automakers, appears to be preparing to let drivers use Apple Wallet as a digital car key. According to recent findings, Apple’s internal systems now list Toyota among the companies that will support Apple’s Car Key platform, though Toyota has not yet publicly announced when the feature will go live.

At this stage, it’s unclear which Toyota models will get Car Key support or whether the rollout will include existing cars, new models, or both. Toyota hasn’t shared any specifics yet, so customers will need to wait for an official announcement for details on timing and compatibility.

Apple’s Car Key feature, introduced back in 2020, lets you add a digital key to the Wallet app on your iPhone or Apple Watch. Once set up, you can use your device to lock, unlock, and even start your car — often with a simple tap or proximity detection. Express Mode can make this even quicker by letting you use the key without unlocking your device first.
