Xindeco RFID expansion targets hard-to-tag beauty and accessory products

Xindeco IoT, an RFID tag manufacturer headquartered in Xiamen, China, has expanded its VersaTrack product line by introducing Gen2X-enabled technology alongside two new ultra-compact tags, VersaMax and VersaNano. The latest additions are designed to improve inventory tracking for product categories that have traditionally been difficult to tag.

The company recently collaborated with Impinj, a provider of RFID devices and software solutions, to enhance inventory management capabilities for global retailer Miniso. Miniso has implemented Xindeco’s VersaMini RFID tags across a range of small merchandise, including cosmetics and accessories, with plans to extend the deployment into European markets.

According to Leo Ren, General Manager of Research and Development at Xindeco, products such as cosmetics, jewelry, health and beauty items, and fashion accessories have historically posed challenges for RFID implementation due to their compact dimensions, complex packaging designs, and the presence of materials such as liquids and metals.

Ren explained that the VersaTrack family utilizes Impinj’s M800 endpoint integrated circuits featuring Gen2X support. This technology enables retailers like Miniso to expand RFID applications into previously challenging product categories. As Miniso broadens its RFID initiatives worldwide, the deployment demonstrates how retailers can achieve item-level visibility across a significantly larger share of their inventory.

The next generation of ultra-small tags is based on RAIN RFID technology, a passive, battery-free wireless system designed to connect everyday products to digital networks.

Matt Branda, Vice President of Product and Solution Marketing at Impinj, emphasized that the full benefits of item-level visibility are realized when RAIN RFID is applied across an entire product assortment. Enhanced inventory transparency allows retailers to respond more effectively to replenishment requirements, minimize stock shortages and excess inventory, and improve product availability for consumers.

Branda also highlighted the operational advantages of RFID-enabled inventory management. Tasks that once required extensive manual counting can now be completed more quickly and accurately, enabling store associates to conduct inventory checks more frequently while reducing the time and labor involved.
