Impinj Says NXP Infringes Patents on Rain RFID Technology


Impinj expanded its patent-infringement battle with NXP over integrated circuits using radio frequency identification tags that are increasingly used by businesses to wirelessly connect products to the Internet, Bloomberg reports.

The dispute is over technology used in RAIN RFID, a standard used for things like tracking baggage at airports, managing inventory at stores and automating supply chain management. Impinj makes the Monza chips that competes with NXP’s UCODE.

The case also includes a patent-infringement lawsuit Impinj filed last year in California and one filed by NXP that’s now pendingin Washington state
