Iraq to Ban Imported Electrical Appliances Without Barcodes from September 15

As of September 15, 2025, Iraq will no longer allow imported electrical appliances that do not carry a specific barcode confirming their compliance with national quality requirements. The Ministry of Planning made this announcement on Saturday as part of strengthened regulations for quality control of imported goods.

Imported electrical devices must now have a barcode certifying the “Iraqi Quality Mark,” enforced since July 1, 2024.

The rule applies to items like water heaters, electric heaters, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and electric ovens.

Suppliers must obtain a Certificate of Conformity from an accredited authority in the country of origin before shipping to Iraq.

Alongside the barcode, imported products must clearly show the country of origin, manufacturer/importer name, and full electrical specs (voltage, frequency, power). Energy efficiency labeling is also required.
