Industry veterans unite to form ‘Awesense Five’ for sensor manufacturing
Five veterans, each associated with large electronics companies, have joined forces to establish Awesense Five Pvt Ltd, a venture dedicated to designing and manufacturing sensors.
These sensors play a crucial role in monitoring and control systems, making their domestic production a top priority. The group recognizes the strategic importance of these sensors and aims to reduce dependence on foreign imports.
N. Ramachandran, the Managing Director of Chennai-based MEL Systems and Services Ltd, is one of the investors in this new venture. He emphasizes that their goal is to contribute to India’s electronics manufacturing capabilities and decrease reliance on imports. The other four key players in this endeavor are:
Currently, most sensors are imported. While the TVS Group operates a photonics-based sensor company, there are other smaller players in the market. However, the overall volume remains relatively low. The focus of Awesense Five is on industrial sensors, and they anticipate that the Indian market for these sensors will exceed ₹7,000 crore.
