There’s a particular flavor of irritation reserved for the times when you walk all the way to the Metro gates in Washington DC only to remember that you left your SmarTrip card on your dresser, or in your other bag, or in the back pocket of yesterday’s jeans. Starting some time this year, though, you may never have to deal with this kind of inconvenience again. Instead, you’ll be able to use Apple Wallet to store your SmartTrip card and tap through the gates. WMATA announced the development in a tweet, teasing more announcements to come.
