Abode Expands Apple Home Support With New Garage and Outdoor Sensors
Abode has introduced two new smart home sensors that broaden its Apple Home-compatible lineup, giving users more ways to monitor areas outside the traditional front door.
The new Garage Tilt Sensor is designed to track whether a garage door is open or closed by detecting changes in its angle. Once connected to an Abode hub, the sensor can send real-time notifications and appear in Apple Home, allowing users to check their garage door status alongside other smart home devices.
Joining it is the Outdoor Contact Sensor, a weather-resistant accessory built for gates, sheds, fences, and other exterior entry points. Unlike standard indoor contact sensors, this model is designed to withstand outdoor conditions while providing alerts whenever an entry point is opened or closed.
Both devices integrate with Apple Home through Abode’s platform, enabling users to include them in Home automations and scenes. For example, homeowners can trigger lights, cameras, or other smart accessories when a gate opens or a garage door is left open.
The launch reflects Abode’s continued focus on expanding its Apple Home ecosystem beyond conventional doors and windows, making it easier to secure outdoor spaces with native smart home integration. According to the company, the new sensors are intended for locations where standard indoor sensors are not suitable because of exposure to weather or different mounting requirements.
