Beontag Introduces Soft RFID Label for Seamless Integration Into Clothing

Beontag has introduced Fiberwave Soft, a UHF RFID care label designed to be integrated directly into clothing. The company says the label allows fashion and luxury brands to add RFID tracking without compromising the softness, comfort or appearance of their garments.

RFID tags are increasingly used in the fashion industry to track individual items throughout the supply chain, from manufacturing and distribution to stores. However, integrating the technology into garments can be challenging when brands want to maintain a soft, high-quality finish.

Fiberwave Soft is designed to address that issue with an extra-soft textile structure. According to Beontag, the label can be placed against the skin while remaining difficult to distinguish from the surrounding fabric. At the same time, it provides UHF RFID functionality for inventory management, loss prevention and supply-chain visibility.

The label can be customized in terms of size, shape, printing and branding. Beontag says it can also be incorporated into existing garment manufacturing processes without requiring major changes to production.

The company is also positioning Fiberwave Soft as a potential component of future Digital Product Passport systems. The label can include a serialized QR code that consumers can scan to access information such as a product’s origin, care instructions, repair options and other data related to its lifecycle.

This combination allows brands to use RFID for operational purposes while using the QR code as a consumer-facing gateway to digital product information. Beontag says brands can therefore introduce RFID tracking now and add Digital Product Passport functionality without having to change the label or manufacturing process later.
